Ravenglass Bed and Breakfast Accommodation |
Rose Garth Guest House |
Neil and the Team welcome you to Rosegarth in tranquil Ravenglass, an ancient village built on the site of Glannaventa, a Roman fort and port. Rosegarth overlooks the beautiful river estuary, and for several generations was the local Doctors home and practice. The building retains many original features from the Victorian era and offers visitors a friendly and comfortable base from which to explore this wonderful corner of the Lake District. Rose Garth is situated in the centre of the village of Ravenglass. It is a family run Tea Room and offers Bed and Breakfast accommodation with traditional Cumbrian hospitality. Each bedroom is comfortably furnished and most have views over the river estuary. There are tea and coffee making facilities in each room. The house is centrally heated and residents have the benefit of their own lounge. Children and dogs are welcome and can play safely in the guest house garden. Guests can enjoy a hearty traditional English breakfast (vegetarians catered for) whilst gazing out over the Estuary. Offering secure bike/equipment storage, cleaning and drying facilities, Rosegarth is ideal for cyclists, hill walkers, and bird watchers and is perfectly situated at the start of the Hadrian's Wall (Route 72) cycle route and the Cumberland Way, we are also on the Cumbria Coastal Way. Being keen outdoor people with extensive local knowledge we have a full range of guide books, OS maps and digital mapping/route planning software to help you organise your day's adventures. There are drying facilities and hair dryers are available for those caught in one of the Lake District's rare rain storms! Packed Lunches are available from the extensive tea room menu in season and a more limited menu by arrangement out of season. There is a guest car park at the rear of the guest house. Rose Garth is open all through the year with the exception of the Christmas and New Year period. |

Muncaster Castle (Stable Block) |
![]() |
Muncaster Castle, home to the Pennington family for 800 years, is a genuine treasure trove of art and antiques. Its Great Hall, Octagonal Library and elegant Dining Room are all windows on a grand past. But Muncaster's wild history reveals a flipside to life in a stately home. The castle evolved from the Pele Tower, built to repel marauding Scots. Those who stay here say it is haunted by ghosts, including the legendary Tom Fool. Visit the Tapestry Room if you dare. The stable block at Muncaster has recently been renovated to provide very comfortable accommodation for up to 24 guests. |
