The Manor Arms |
|
|
The Manor Arms is not really the place for a quick drink; like a good meal it needs to be digested at leisure in order to be fully appreciated. So having chosen your drink, maybe one of the seemingly numerous real ales or still ciders on offer, and perhaps decided on a hot or cold snack, begin then to look around the bar. Here you will see photographs and paintings, significantly by the local artists, Steve Whittle and Jane Rousseau, all emphasising and adding to the atmosphere of The Manor Arms. It will become apparent too that this was a favourite pub of the author Richard Adams (“Watership Down”) and of course the entire area was and remains a haunt for artists, painters and writers alike. You are in Wordsworth country now. During the long summer days and evenings, drinks and snacks can be enjoyed outside The Manor Arms perhaps sitting round the obelisk just watching the world go by. The Manor Arms caters for present day requirements and has attractive en-suite guest rooms for your continued comfort, relaxation and total enjoyment. A further attractive feature is that following a good night's sleep, a splendid Manor Arms breakfast is served in the comfort of your room! Family owned and run since 1988, The Manor Arms draws groups from all over the UK, eager to sample the real ales on offer including local Cumbrian brews in addition to the permanently available Yates Bitter and Copper Dragon Ale. With a prestigious star rating in the CAMRA Good Beer, Bed and Breakfast Guide, proud winners of the 2004 West Pennine Award and featured in the final 16 of the National Pub of The Year 2006 The Manor Arms proves to be irresistable for many! |
