The Snooty Fox (Uldale)

The Snooty Fox at Uldale is a traditional Lakeland Inn serving local real ales, good food and comfortable guest B&B accommodation.
Dating back to the early 1600's, this former coaching inn is a very special place to spend some time.
Relax with a well earned pint after a day on the fells or tuck into one of our mouth watering restaurant or bar meals. Sleep soundly in one of our comfortable, well appointed guest rooms.
The pub has two bars and a separate dining room. The Snug Bar has satellite television and a separate games room for pool and darts (winter only) whilst the lounge bar, in which meals are also served, has a wood burning stove for cool evenings. Delicious Food is served 6 days a week from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.

We have three guest bedrooms available on a bed and breakfast basis, all recently refurbished, which are tastefully furnished in a traditional style.

We're dog friendly - well behaved dog's welcome to stay in the rooms and the snug bar.

After a tough day's walking on the Northern Fells, what better way to relax and recuperate than to sink into one of our wonderfully comfy beds after a lovely hot bath or shower, before dining in our restaurant with a couple of pints of well kept cask conditioned real ale. Bliss!

Denton House (Hesket Newmarket)

Denton House is a very friendly 4 star rated bed and breakfast guest house managed by Susan and Alan Armstrong for over 8 years and has a reputation for spacious comfortable guest rooms and superb breakfasts, using only the finest local produce. It is situated in the centre of Hesket Newmarket, overlooking the village green. Dating back to the 17th century, this spendid house has 8 guest rooms which can be let as double, single, twin or family rooms on a bed & breakfast (B&B) basis.
All of our guest rooms are spacious and most have views of the village and up to the Caldbeck Fells or over surrounding countryside. Relax in our cosy guest lounge with comfy sofas, TV and roaring wood burning stove.
Full English Breakfast is served between 8 & 9 in our large breakfast room, again with roaring open fire.
Hesket Newmarket is located in one of the quieter parts of the Lake District, yet we are only a short drive to Keswick, Penrith and Bassenthwaite Lake. We are a perfect stop-over point when traveling to Scotland from the South of England. We are also located close to the Rievers Cycle Route, Coast to Coast C2C and the Cumbrian Way runs close by too. The Caldbeck Fells are on your doorstep with High Pike and Carrock Fell overlooking the village.
We are only 20 yards down from the famous CAMRA award winning Old Crown pub - famous for its excellent food and superb real ales from the nearby Hesket Newmarket Brewery. A traditional Lake District pub with a very warm welcome waiting for you.
We have ample car parking and a lock-up garage for cycles.

Swaledale Watch Farm

Swaledale Watch is a busy sheep farm beautifully located just outside Caldbeck Village. With views over towards High Pike and the Northern Fells of the Lake District, this really is a peaceful place to spend some time.
We offer a range of lovely bed & breakfast guest rooms in a tranquil location with delicious home cooked breakfasts in the morning.
Enjoy great comfort, excellent food, a warm welcome and peaceful unspoilt surroundings. Central for touring, walking or discovering the rolling Northern fells.
We have 2 Double and 2 Twin rooms available. The main Double Room has a 4 poster bed and Jacuzzi bath. All rooms have private facilities, are tastefully decorated, have colour TV, radio, tea-tray, clean fluffy towels daily and books for every interest in the lounges.
Our breakfasts are superb, using only the finest local produce. Dinners are also on available on Saturday evenings.
Walk into Caldbeck via the Howk, a wooded limestone gorge with waterfalls and the remains of an old Bobbin Mill, guaranteed to be memorable.
Guests are free to wander around the 300-acre farm and, naturally, lambing time is a great favourite with visitors. Do bring your warm woollies and wellies! We also have a number of miniature ponies on the farm - always a big hit with the children.

Hawksdale Lodge was built circa 1840, is a beautiful family home and offers splendid bed & breakfast accommodation close to the edge of the Northern Fells of the Lake District.
Set in an elevated position it enjoys spectacular views across to the Northern Pennines and the hills of Dumfriesshire.Guests enjoy large, luxurious rooms with period furniture, gorgeous bed linen and soft fluffy towels. Waking to breathtaking views across open countryside and the smell of home cooked breakfast using the best local ingredients, including delicious freshly baked bread from the local artisan baker, and eggs from our own free range hens, we can cater for vegetarians and meat eaters alike.
The Accommodation comprises of 2 large double bedrooms, one with ensuite, the other with a bathroom across the hall.
As we have children and our own pets, we do not accommodate dogs in the house but will happily provide a barn for them, with prior notice.

The Mill (Millhouse)

The Mill at Millhouse is a wonderful bed and breakfast guest house set in a peaceful location on the edge of the village of Millhouse near Hesket Newmarket on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The building is a restored 17th century wood mill set in 2 acres of garden and meadow, bordering the River Caldew.
Watch the wildlife, including red squirrels, whilst enjoying a traditional hearty Cumbrian breakfast. Welcoming wood burning stove in winter in superb cruck beamed lounge.

Boltongate Old Rectory

The setting of the Old Rectory at Boltongate, amid peaceful country side with the fells and mountains beyond, could hardly be more beautiful. Many of its rooms face southward and have superb views.
The house dates from around 1360 with later additions in the seventeenth century and in Victorian times. In summer the sun streams in through the large windows and guests can roam in the idyllic grounds with its ponds and arbours while, during the cooler months, great log fires burn in the study and dining room.
This is the home of David and Gill Taylor and the whole house has the atmosphere of a tranquil, elegant country way of living almost forgotten; a place where hospitality is warm and friendship infectious.
They have three en-suite rooms available on a Bed and Breakfast basis. Home cooked Dinner with local produce is also available with advanced notice.
Situated in the quieter Northern Fells, this is the perfect centre from which to explore Buttermere, Derwent Water and Ullswater, and the majestic peaks of Skiddaw, Blencathra and the Northern Fells of the Lake District. The bustling Lakeland town of Keswick, Cockermouth, the birthplace of poet William Wordsworth, and the Roman, cathedral city of Carlisle are all within thirty minutes drive. Caldbeck village is about 10 minutes drive away with superb views over the fells of High Pike, Brae Fell, Knott and Skiddaw.

Rose Castle Farm

Rose Castle Farm offers a wonderful setting for a relaxing B&B break in beautiful countryside in a Grade 2 listed farmhouse. We are within the grounds of Rose Castle, the home of the Bishop of Carlisle since the 13th century and only 4 miles from the Lake District National Park.
We are on the Cumbrian Way, near many lovely local walks, and by the river Caldew (fishing permits are available). We'll pick walkers from Caldbeck and return them the next day if required.
We welcome families and offer 'second to none' traditional farmhouse food cooked on an Aga. We use local produce wherever possible. Sausages, bacon and black pudding all come from the local butcher in Dalston and reared on his farm in Caldbeck and cooked on our traditional Aga. Delicious!
We offer 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin room. One of the double rooms can be easily converted to a family room. There is a shared bathroom with bath and shower. We provide fresh towels and bathrobes. Each bedroom has a TV, clock radio and tea-making facilities.
We have plenty of books and board games. We offer flexible arrival, departure and breakfast times. Smoking is not permitted in the house. We can accommodate dogs (dog friendly B&B), but please check first.

High Houses

High Houses is a special and unusual place to stay. Brimming with ambience created by the history, architecture, situation and original features. Built in 1669 , this Cumbrian farmhouse is perched aloft a hillside in the Northern Fells, not far from the villages of Ireby, Uldale and Caldbeck, and only 5 miles from Bassenthwaite Lake.
Lovingly restored over several years, there are now 3 bedrooms, 1 en-suite bathroom and 1 shower room, sitting room, Inglenook room and kitchen, all retaining many of their original features. Stone slab floors, timber beams and open fires are all part of the High Houses experience.
The farmhouse is a wonderful warren of a home where rooms run off long corridors.
The views towards Scotland are quite breathtaking, with the house being in the middle of a 400 acre farm, surrounded by fell and farmland and is in the heart of John Peel Hunting Country. Excellent walking is available right on your doorstep in this beautiful part of the northern Lake District.
High Houses is now a family home with the main building available for Bed & Breakfast (B&B) or Self-Catering for up to 6 adults and 2 children. The owner lives next door in an adjoining wing. She is a professional cook, specialising in game, wild food (home-made jams, bread, hens hatched on the farm, free range eggs and home grown vegetables).
There is also central heating and electiricty supplied by a generator.

The Briars

The Briars is a comfortable, Bed and Breakfast Guest House, ideally located close to the centre of Caldbeck village itself, with views towards St Kentigern's Church, Cald Beck and the Northern Fells in the distance. Our beautiful gardens front and back, are well known for their floral displays in Spring & Summer.
We have three guest bedrooms available on a bed and breakfast basis, 1 double en-suite room, 1 twin and 1 single room - with shared bathroom. Every room has colour TV and tea & coffee making facilities. We serve a full, hearty traditional Cumbrian Breakfast in the mornings to set you up for a day exploring the Northern Fells area by foot, cycle or car. We are situated on the Cumbria Way footpath.
Evening meals are available locally at the Oddfellow's Arms in Caldbeck, only 2 minutes walk away from the Briar's, with the Watermill Cafe at Priest's Mill, for light lunches and refreshments during the day.
We have secure storage available for cycles for those travelling on the Cumbria Way and Reivers Cycle Route.

Brownrigg Farm is a former fell farm dating back to the 17th century, with stunning views over the valley towards the Northern Fells of the Lake District.
We are situated in a quiet, elevated position above Caldbeck village with magnificant views towards the Northern Fells including High Pike and Carrock Fell, as well as the Eden Valley and Pennines in the distance.
We have one comfortable and spacious double guest room with private bathroom offered on a B&B basis (twin available on request).
Full Cumbrian breakfast is served in our cosy breakfast room, complete with living flame gas stove and views over our gardens.
We have ample parking and secure storage for cycles, if required.
