Two houses equipped to the highest standard. Excellent base close to the village of Coniston and Coniston Water with ample opportunities for walking, touring, watersports and pony trekking. Each house consists of a welcoming entrance (with downstairs toilet), an expansive lounge/dining room with sliding patio doors leading to a well equipped patio and large garden. The kitchen is so well equipped that visitors should want for nothing in testing their culinary skills. The first floor boasts a double bedded room with en suite facilities, two comfortable twin bedded rooms and a bathroom. A gas fire is situated in the lounge with central heating throughout for the cooler times of the year. Bed linen and towels are provided and there is ample parking for several cars. A washing machine and dryer are available. Children welcome, short breaks, weekly terms, open all year. |

We are situated in some of the finest scenery in The Lake District and offer a perfect base to explore the local area. Scarr Head is a small working farm at the foot of the Coniston mountains and just 2 miles South of Coniston village, where there is a good range of shops, hotels and restaurants. Hawkshead, Ambleside, Bowness & Windermere are easily accessible by car but if it’s peace and quiet you are looking for we are the perfect base for exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside, either on foot, by car or even on horseback. Torver has two village pubs. Both have restaurant facilities and are within 10 minutes walking distance of the farm. There are a number of spectacular walks straight out of the farmyard, such as Walna Scarr, Coniston “Old Man” and a lower level walk to Beacon Tarn. The West Cumbrian coast holds many jewels including Muncaster Castle and the narrow guage railway which runs from Ravenglass to Eskdale. There are three permanent, modern caravans, sleeping 2 - 4. All have spacious accommodation, which includes: Bathroom with shower, toilet and washbasin Galley style kitchen with gas cooker, fridge with small freezer compartment, electric kettle Comfortable lounge with gas fire, colour TV and dining area Bedrooms with fitted wardrobes, cupboard space, mirrors and shaver points. (2 cots available) Fitted carpets, and quality furnishings Mains electricity (240V), drainage and sewerage. Fuel costs and hot water included in the hire charge. On site there is a small laundry room with spin dryer, large sink, indoor drying line and ironing board (no iron). Equipment includes: Crockery, Cutlery, Cooking utensils, Pillows, Blankets, Duvets with covers. Please bring your own sheets, pillowcases, towels and teatowels. Please note that all caravans are non-smoking. There is an area for tents and up to 5 touring caravans or camper vans. Facilities include: Standpipe water tap, dishwasher drain, Elsan disposal point, flush toilets, hot water, shower, shaver and hairdryer points. Booking Conditions: Pets: Dogs are accepted strictly by arrangement and provided they are well behaved. Under no circumstances may a dog be left alone in a caravan or tent. No fires must be lit anywhere on site. |
