High Fell – the Cumbria Landscape Story
This interactive exhibition links to Cumbria Wildlife Trust's High Fell oral history project which captures local peoples' memories of the Lakeland landscape since World War II. It explores the changing landscape and how this has affected the county's wildlife. Memories of changes in farming, forestry, recreation and tourism have been captured by the High Fell project, along with recollections of local naturalists who have witnessed the impact of these changes on the wildlife of our county. Entry to the exhibition is £5.20 for adults, £3.60 concessions, 50p for children aged 5-18 years and free for children under 5 years.

White-faced darter dragonfly monitoring at Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserve

We are looking to recruit several people who have a bit of time to spend helping out with an exciting project to re-introduce the white-faced darter dragonfly back onto the Witherslack Mosses in south-Cumbria. Following the first two years of introducing larvae to Foulshaw Moss, we are looking for people who can spare time during mid May to early July to carry out regular surveys for larval skins and adults of white-faced darter at Foulshaw Moss. Full training and survey skills will be provided beforehand. Please contact John Dunbavin on 01539 816300 for further details.
